Appsto.re is run by a small team of people passionate about iPhone apps. Our goal, to free your iPhone apps from the bondage and obscurity of iTunes! We were frustrated by how difficult it was to find new apps using iTunes and we thought, "Let's put the power of discovering and sharing iPhone apps back in the hands of the people!".
We think iPhone apps deserve to roam free across the web, to be discovered beyond the confines of iTunes!. This was going to be a revolution! Our rallying call, "Free your apps!", our manifesto...

Three inalienable rights of an iPhone app: Freedom, Discovery, and The Pursuit of Promotion
- iPhone apps deserve to be Free, to roam the web and be discovered beyond the confines of iTunes.
- All iPhone apps may not be created equal, but they all deserve an equal chance to be Discovered and shared.
- The pursuit of Promotion. iPhone apps are happy when people know about them, and no one should stand in the way of an iPhone apps pursuit of happiness.
Where do you look when you are trying to start a revolution for freedom? To the French of course, and that is just what we did. We found Reunion Island, the Puerto Rico of France and the home of a freedom loving people with the country domain .RE. It turns out Reunion Island loves iPhone apps as much as we do and they were happy to grant us our domain, appsto.re We were set, ready to fight the good fight and help the world of iPhone apps be a little more open and free.
