Hero Emblems is a JRPG that mixes “Side-Scrolling beat' em up” and “Match-3” features. Set in the middle-ages fantasy world of sword-fighting and wizardry, it is an adventure of 4 brave warriors who wield different emblem powers and their attempts to stop the re-awakening of the God of Evil.

Fantastic!!!!
This is a deceptively simple game, but with a surprising depth. Animation and graphics is great. It is cheap (and NO IAPs!!!!). Awesome!!
I am around 15 hours in (and none of this is grinding to level) and I only feel like I am a fraction through the game (have just opened up a whole new area - a huge ocean area - and there are other areas on the map yet to be unlocked).
One reviewer said there was a hardness jump which prevented them moving through the story - but I have not encountered this.
Another great thing is you don't need an Internet connection to play (played the game on a plane with airplane mode on!
If you have a couple of dollars spare I definitely recommend this game.
Late game difficulty is ridiculous
This is a nice game. It's challenging even in casual mode, it has an interesting story (although some characters are a bit annoying), and it scratches that Puzzle Quest itch (although PQ2 had a lot more depth).
But what's happening with the difficulty in the late game is ridiculous. Especially in the additional content, the bosses can resist almost everything you throw at them, and even normal opponents are stupidly overpowered. Even with all party members leveled up and geared up as high as they can possibly be at that stage, these battles are simply impossible. There's very little you can do in terms of strategy here, all you can do is grind and hope for a lucky run. Very frustrating.
If it wasn't for the late game difficulty spike, I would give the game five stars, since I absolutely got my money's worth out of it. But as it is, I am a bit frustrated that I can't finish the game unless I want to spend hours just retrying the same, extremely difficult battles.
Strategic match 3
More like a puzzler actually. Lots of strategy in matching and gear selection. Almost no grinding. Whoever plays like that is playing wrong.
One thing. I’ve finished the game. Made it to the update (the demonic tower) and suddenly it’s ten times harder. I was expecting a challenge but I’m curious if anyone has been able to finish the update.
Anyway great game. 35 + hours cant lie
