Description

ViewExif is a powerful metadata tool for your photos. With the help of ViewExif, you can not only view metadata of photos, but also edit and remove metadata in photo. Besides, it has an app extension, so you can view metadata right in Photos app.

Being able to read exif tags can be of great importance not only for beginners, but also for other photographers who want to find out what settings and tools were used to create a particular photograph.

For those people who want to protect privacy, this app is useful for you as well. When you send photos via email or share on social network, your personal information (geo location, taken date etc) is shared as well. If you upset to share those information, ViewExif is able to remove it before sharing.

Features:
* Display EXIF tags: Dimensions, Taken Date, ISO Speed, F Number, Exposure Time, Focal Length and more.
* Display IPTC tags: Star Ratings, Keywords, Description etc.
* Display geo location on map.
* Add star ratings, keywords and description on photo
* Remove metadata from photo
* Supported image formats (JPG, PNG, TIFF, HEIC) and RAW formats (CR2, NEF, DNG).
* Share photo w/o metadata on Twitter, Facebook, email.
* App extension for Photos app and 3rd-party apps such as Dropbox, FileExplorer etc.

Great app and great people to deal with.

When I first got the app it read exif data on my images but would not write it on my particular iPad. I emailed the developers and they took my issue seriously straight away. They fixed the problem quickly and effectively and now the app does exactly what it is supposed to. It allows you to read the exif data about your image, whatever its source, so things like size and any information from the camera/phone or from the artist. This is important because for some reason Apple have not provided this facility as a standard part of the iPad photo app. It also allows you to add keywords (to use as tags) and descriptions so you can keep track of versions of artworks for example. It also allows you to gave a star rating to your image. So, in my experience, a great little app that works perfectly as described, and a brilliant, responsive developer. First class - one very happy customer. Thank you.

Keep apps out of your photos!

Strips and reads EXIF data, and does it well. Further, if you’re a privacy wonk, you can you can use it as a “gatekeeper” for your photos by making it the only app with access to Photos, and share pictures to and from your browser, facebook, Twitter... all without giving that app access to your photo library. I can’t remember what I paid for it, but on reflection I’d pay double without hesitation.

Mostly great; but there is a long-standing bug…

ViewExif is still unable to extract GPS data if a photo modified on a Mac in spite of metadata still being present. This appears to be because when the Mac Photos app makes changes, e.g. enhance photo, it changes the 'Software' tag to Photos 4, instead of just a numeric version number e.g. '15.4.1'. Since the data is still present, the map still appears in the iPad Photos app, it appears that ViewExif is not expecting and unable to handle a non-numeric Software tag. All the other meta-data is shown, just the GPS data is missing.

If, on the iPad Photos app, the photo is edited and saved, removing auto-enhancement and reapplying suffices, it returns the Software tag to a numeric only version number and ViewExif then successfully displays the GPS data.

I did report this as a bug several months ago, but I didn't receive any feedback nor has it yet been addressed. Fix this and I wpuld return it to five stars.
