Editors’ Notes

Although this game has a totally different visual style, it feels exactly like Rick and Morty—thanks to the same hilarious writing that’s made the Adult Swim series so popular. As you navigate the characters’ ridiculous worlds, your job is to collect and fight dozens of Mortys from parallel universes. You’ll find yourself laughing out loud yet constantly captivated by the gameplay. Even if you don’t know a schmeckle from a Meseeks, you’ll delight in the unconventional humor and gripping turn-based combat.

Great Game, But...

I love this game, it still has the humour of the TV show and just the idea of battling Morty’s seems hilarious to me, but I do have a few issues, all mortys aren’t really much different from each other, for an example the ‘ratings’ they are given don’t mean anything an exotic which is the morty you start with is often just as bad as a common morty which makes no sense to me, each Morty just seems to be too similar with similar stats, similar moves and similar attack power. On top of this the amount of Attack Points for each move is usually around 10 which is awful when you go into dimensions, it means you have to buy loads of items to keep your attack points up, along with keeping your health up by buying items and even though you might have a ‘rock morty’ and the opponent may have a ‘scissors morty’ you will still take damage no matter what because the game is too balanced there is no strong mortys and no weak ones they are all too similar. Overall it is fun, but each battle feels very repetitive.

Rick and Morty

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily fromNarodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick and Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existencial catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a Rick and Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.
