Cannot live without it when living abroad in Japan

I started using this dictionary since I have started learning Japanese about 2 years ago. I must say, it is the best out of many others I have tried. The interface is clean and intuitive. The dictionary has probably 98% of what I am looking for, just mostly missing a few recent terms and slangs from the internet. It’s also good to see which vocabulary is a frequently used term versus infrequent ones. The vocabulary category lists is very useful, particularly for when I need to study before tests.

I would like to suggest a few things, although I understand it might be quite an effort to do so. There are many words means the same thing, but the nuance just simply don’t translate well into English. Sometimes the example sentences help, but many don’t have those examples. Maybe users can submit usage examples in the future?

When I am looking under the vocabulary list, I wish there is category for words that has a pattern of [xっxり], which is so often used in speech or written Japanese. If possible, maybe in the future I can make my own customize list(s) besides bookmarking in a giant one?

Lastly, I sometimes see grammar in the dictionary app but not really completely included. Probably grammar points alone would make a great separate app, but having it in one dictionary will be much appreciated.

I wish one day we may see a thesaurus app from the dev with both similar and opposite meaning words, too. But maybe I am asking too much already.

Anyway, it’s great to have a premium dictionary app that just works.

The best for iOS

Definitely a top tier dictionnary on iOS.

Search can be done with regular keyboard, kana keaybord, or by drawing kanji or kana. I'd say the kanji drawing is more strict than the google translate one, but a quick draw in google translate with a copy/paste here will do wonders.
A lot of entries have sentences to put the word in context, you can add a memo with an entry (I like to add weather the word is used with する or not), the conjugaison is visible for verbs, and you can save entries in personalized lists, with a rather quick way to add one entry in several lists.

What to improve ? The ability to use other languages than English would be great (at least adding the languages of the countries where Japanese is popular). Not everyone can speak English with a sufficient level to be able to translate what they want to say to find the right word in Japanese.
And probably the recognition of kanji drawing, but I'm really searching for something to criticize here ^^'

Perfect! Hope Export will be added.

Wonderful Japanese dictionary. Totally free. No ads at all!
You can search by Japanese (romaji), English, or handwriting which is very useful if you can “draw” the kanji based on what you see, but cannot pronounce the word.
The bookmark and flash card also come very handy. You can group your bookmarks (the words) and create flash cards to review them.
The only concern I have is that there is no way to export the bookmarks. Hope this could be added in the next version.
Also, we’d like to donate! Please please add a link in “About the app”.
Highly recommended.
