Great Dictionary

Many dictionaries have come and go since my Language learning journey, not this one! By far the biggest archive of words besides google.
If you need to look up a word you can be sure it’s there( in all it’s forms ,past ,present ect.)
This is in contrast to dictionaries ive paid for that miss some words:(大辞林) 35$ ,新明解 (15$ on sale)
I still use these because of pitch accent information, plus it’s using Japanese to look up Japanese. But other wise this app trumps all of that.

If only there were pitch accent information, maybe add a chart or something and the pitch numbers. Then this app would be even more perfect.

Oh and just one small pet peeve, on my iphone7plus this dictionary doesnt support Horizontal mode ,whilst on my ipad it does. Please add horizontal support, i keep tilting my head because i dont want to bend my phone charger >_<.

Powerful Japanese Study Tool

Not only is Japanese a great dictionary with extensive entries, additional reference info and a sleek radical search interface, it also manages to be an excellent study tool. Searched terms can be put into lists which feed into a built in spaced review function. I can’t recommend this as a go-to Japanese reference app. My only requests would be more example sentences, possibly pulling from something like Weblio, and the ability to choose/edit the flashcard fields in the study function.

New text formatting after update makes reading notes very hard

I have been using the app for years. I was very sad to see much of the functionality (such as inversed searching) disappear several years ago. It made the app worse but it was still useful.

After the latest update in IOS there has been a change in the formatting of text in the notes of dictionary entries which makes them very hard to read. This makes the already decreased functionality even more subpar.

Very sad to see what was once the best app on the market get gradually and continuously worse.
