Description

PocketTorah is designed to help you learn the weekly Torah and Haftarah portion anywhere, at any time for free.

This project was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Jewish New Media Innovation Fund

The app includes:
- The entire text of the Torah and Haftarah in Hebrew and translation.
- On Demand Audio: With a simple click or touch of any verse number the corresponding Hebrew with proper trope is chanted, while the corresponding text is highlighted.
- Tikkun View – With a touch you can choose whether you want to see the Hebrew as vowelized text or as it appears in the Torah with crowns and without vowels.

Please fix bugs!

Pocket Torah is my most favorite app, I use it whenever I’m reading if I need to make sure I’m reading my trope right or anything else. But I have to close the app every 4 or 5 times I read a section or verse because the yellow highlight stops being in sync with the words being chanted. And then the pause button or back button don’t work either. You can only have so much time practicing before you have to reboot everything. It’s quite frustrating to have to close and reload the app every time, on top of having to re-find my portion. PLEASE fix the bugs!!!! But otherwise, a really great app.

Each Word

What a wonderful gift of being able to just tap on any word in any Aliyah from any parsha and hear and see the text so I can learn the tropes. Thank you for making this available for free and continuing to update and keep this free for all to use! I'm also very thankful of the translation in English and the ability to pause so I can read through and learn as well as understand the text I'm reading. Again I give much appreciation to all the work and kindness put into this app.

One thing I've noticed is my app crashes on iPhone 5s when I try to just go to the parsha of the week. The app just kicks me out and closes. I just reopen the app, then I just search for the correct parsha in the provided list. But I probably just need to update my iPhone.

Really great app

This is a really great app, and I totally love it. I especially love the way I can change the font size so as to make the margins fall in different places; this way I don’t rely on the placement of the text when it differs in the Torah from the Tikkun. However, I had to take off one star because the verse numbers are in your Tikkun. Why did you do that? It’s a cheat, and that’s a problem. There aren’t numbers for us to follow when we’re looking in Torah. LOL That’s a significant oversight in this training app. Otherwise, it’s a super helpful app; 21st Century Torah! Todah!
